What could I, a longtime iPad user, even contribute to the discourse surrounding the comeback of the Mac lineup, the performance of Apple silicon, and the reality of modern Mac apps?īut I was intrigued by the proposal regardless, and I said yes. I don’t think I need to tell that story again.įor these reasons, as you can imagine, when Apple got in touch with me last November asking if I wanted to try out one of the new MacBook Pros with the M1 Max chip, I welcomed their suggestion with a mix of surprise, trepidation, and, frankly, genuine curiosity. I’ve long considered myself primarily an iPad user and someone who strongly believes in the platform because there’s nothing else like it.

And rightfully so: the iPad – more specifically, the iPad Pro – is my favorite computer Apple’s ever made my coverage of iPad, iPad apps, and, later, iPadOS has far exceeded everything else on MacStories for the last 10 years. Most of you probably know me as “the iPad guy”.
#PROLEVEL RC UPDATE#
The Pixelmator Photo update that adds its new subscription pricing model is available on the App Store now.įor the past few months, I’ve been living a double life. There’s no word yet on when the Mac version might be released, but when it is, we’ll have a complete review. If you’ve used the iPad version of Pixelmator Photo, the Mac app will be immediately familiar with its spare UI and focus on the image being edited. There aren’t many details about the Mac version of Pixelmator Photo to share except for the image at the top of this story, but I like what I see. Hopefully, the switch to subscriptions will allow the Pixelmator team to continue to develop Photo for a long time to come. That’s not the sort of app that can be offered for a set price indefinitely, as demonstrated by the many other sophisticated apps, including other photo editing apps, that have made the leap to a subscription model. Pixelmator Photo is a top-notch, high-quality app that is continuously developed to keep up with advances in Apple’s photo editing frameworks and hardware updates. I’m more surprised that the switch didn’t occur earlier. As with any move from paid-up-front to a subscription, some users will be left behind, which is a shame, but I’m not surprised by Pixelmator’s move. I want to give a special thanks to Drew Ellis and his crew for a fantastic event. There are a lot of reasons for Pixelmator Photo’s move to a subscription model, which are explained in detail in the team’s blog post. In the popular GTR-12 class, young Cody Burke triumphed with his X12'22 car, taking a dominant win from the TQ spot!Ĭody went on to finish on the podium in the super competitive 1/12 Stock category as well, once again proving his skills on the track, as well as the performance of the brand new X12'22 car! Drew eventually finished 3rd after some close racing in the main between the top 3 runners, putting in another solid result for the X4 chassis! In the TC SuperStock class, Drew Ellis put his car 2nd on the grid, after a small mistake in Q4 that possibly cost him the TQ spot in the class. In the prestigious TC modified class, I was able to convert my TQ into a win in the main final! Chris Adams and Drew Ellis also put in strong results with the X4 cars. 4 rounds of qualifying determined the starting positions for the finals, with the best round to count. Open practice started on Thursday, with plenty of practice for all the entrants. The race saw some 120 entries in 9 different classes.
